HIGH END RESIDENTIAL AC FIT OUT

The Challenge

At a highly prestigious address in Holland Park, this $45million residence required a complete air conditioning system that could be installed within the rigorous constraints of the National Heritage listed interior. The challenge was to fit all the necessary fan coil units and ducting within existing voids without damaging the ornate cornicing, decorative ceilings and period feature wall panelling. After an initial set of plans were drawn up, it become clear that any scheme that would meet the specific demands imposed by the architect, could not be achieved using standard units.

Design

Accent then approached local FCU manufacturer Diffusion and set about finding a bespoke solution. Accent appointed three teams for this project. Their Head of Design handled the modelling function, a second team took on the CAD work and a liaison team worked in partnership with the designers. Over a period of three months they moved fans, relocated filter assemblies and sound insulation to design custom products with the correct specification and at the required dimensions. At the conclusion of this process, the architect was able to take a fully functioning and implementable scheme to the end client for approval.

Installation

Working alongside the appointed specialist builders, Accent seated each unit into the tight spaces available, several of which required hand tooled jigs for accurate fitting. The phased installation, spread over 18 months, involved teams of specialist joiners, french polishers and heritage decorators to make good the locations sited over seven floors of the stunning property. On completion, the only visual evidence that Accent had even been inside the Building were the stylish and very discreet shadow gap air handling vents - Plus of course, cool fresh air!
