A major aspect of Accent’s approach to business is the development of long term partnerships with its customers.
It is a firmly held belief that this is the most effective way of ensuring full comprehension of their requirements, and delivery of the appropriately tailored package of services.
Our on-going maintenance contract with Family Investments in Brighton is a typical example of this approach, which began with the maintenance contract for their two roof mounted reciprocating chillers in 1995.
The ‘benefits’ of sea air.
Constant exposure to the elements will eventually take its toll on any equipment, but with Family Investments’ proximity to the
sea front in Brighton, this has been exacerbated by the highly corrosive nature of sea air and has presented Accent with a host of problems over the past decade.
In 1997 the condenser coils on both chillers became so corroded that it was necessary to replace them. Accent were able to monitor and maintain the old components until it became apparent that the deterioration warranted the complete replacement of both chillers
On hand to stay on top
In the knowledge that this project could leave the customer with no cooling, the replacement of the first machine was scheduled for out of the summer season when a reduced load could be held by a single chiller.
Accent also instigated an intense maintenance programme in advance of the project to ensure that this unit was in sufficiently good order to keep the building functioning safely under a balanced temperature control.
Future proof technology
The new chillers would offer greater energy efficiency through stepless capacity control which automatically matches capacity to the building’s demand. A further benefit was the removal from the system of all HFC (R22) ozone depleting refrigerant.
The next step
After a smooth and successful operation, replacement of the remaining chiller has now been scheduled.
Project facts at a glance
- Reduction in energy costs
- Programmed removal of all ozone depleting refrigerant
- Zero ‘down time’ for customer
